According to reports in media, JUI-F has announced its support for a Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) candidate, Moazzam Ali Abbasi, in the Larkana by-polls. Abbasi also has the backing of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, against which the JUI-F intends to hold a march at the end of October.
The Supreme Court had earlier disqualified member of the Sindh Assembly, Moazzam Ali Abbasi, who had been elected from PS-11, Larkana. Abbasi had been disqualified for not revealing his assets. A three-member bench of the Supreme Court had ordered a re-election in the constituency.
Election campaigns are currently underway in Larkana for the by-polls, which are to be held on October 17.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan People’s Party has expressed its disapproval over JUI-F’s decision to support GDA’s candidate in PS-11 by-polls.
Pakistan People’s Party Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khoro has called JUI-F’s opposition to PTI in the center and its support to the party in Sindh a ‘dual policy’. He expressed his displeasure over the fact that the PPP was facilitating JUI-F in its march but the party was campaigning against PPP in the by-polls.
Meanwhile, people have expressed surprise at JUI-F’s move to support a PTI-backed candidate in the Larkana by-polls whilst intending to march on Islamabad later this month.

People also opined that the move was apparently illogical, considering that Maulana Fazlur Rehman intends to march against the PTI.

Other observers also highlighted how the JUI-F was trying to seek PPP’s support in the Azadi March, while it was opposing its candidates in the Larkana by-polls.
