The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has informed an accountability court that one of the accused in the Judge Arshad Malik ‘video leak case’, Faisal Shaheen, has confessed to making the video of the former accountability judge.
The video shows Judge Arshad Malik admitting that he convicted former prime minister Nawaz Sharif under duress.
According to a report in Dawn, Faisal Shaheen, and the nephew of the main figure, Nasir Butt, in the video leak scandal were produced before the anti-terrorism court (ATC) by the FIA.
The anti-terrorism court has sent Faisal Shaheen on judicial remand for seven days, while the physical remand of the nephew of Nasir Butt, Hamza Arif, has been extended for another three days.
The two were arrested by the Counter Terrorism Wing of the FIA after the director general of FIA transferred the video scandal inquiry from the Cyber Crime Circle to CTW.
Earlier in August, the Supreme Court in its verdict had stated that the recording of Judge Arshad Malik was of no benefit to Nawaz Sharif unless verified by the Islamabad High Court.
