People on Twitter have been criticising the government official for abusing his power. A social media user said, “As long as critical thinking is suppressed, be it CSS, MBBS, PMS, or even PhD, there shall be moron like AC Khar to do such baseless actions.” He urged the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) to take action against the government official.

However, after facing severe backlash, Fazal-ur-Rahim tweeted that he had apologised to that vendor. I apologised to that person on the same day when there was no news in media then. And [I am] still sorry and will always be for this,” he said.
