The sessions court order that directed the police to register a case against cricketer Babar Azam over sexual harassment allegations has been suspended by the Lahore High Court (LHC). Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam was accused of sexual harassment by a woman named Hamiza, who has now withdrawn her statement.

Along with the suspension of the order Naseerabad SHO and the complainant Hamiza Mukhtar have been ordered to submit their responses in the case by February 8.

Azam in his petition said that the court that ordered the registration of the case against him ignored facts and urged LHC to declare the sessions court illegal. The cricketer and his counsel maintained that Hamiza had filed a “fake case" against Azam to “blackmail” him.

The woman had already settled the case with Babar Azam in 2018 and her claim that he was sending her threatening calls was also rejected by police.
