A cop had lost his life due to the tear gas fired by his fellow policemen during the protest in the federal capital last week.
“Because, by using the tear gas, it can be tested. [The tear gas canisters] were stashed uselessly. We tested it a little bit, not a lot. We have a lot more stored safely though,” the minister said.
The interior minister’s statement has angered many people on social media who have termed his remarks insensitive.
The protest in Islamabad was held by federal government employees who demanded an increase in their salaries.
Activists, politicians and public alike have called out the interior minister, condemning his statement.
