Protesters in Islamabad claimed that ever since Shah Muhammad Khan had become minister, corruption had increased. They went on to accuse the minister of having taken kickbacks from people chosen for government contracts in development projects. Due to this, the protesters claimed, contractors (thekedar) were already on hunger strike in Bannu. Furthermore, the protesters went on to allege that the District Commissioner in Bannu had applied Section 4 on their lands to seize them by force, which the two tribes of around 15,000 in total numbers are protesting against.
Calling on PM Imran Khan to remove the transport minister from his post until an inquiry against him is done, the protesters stated that if he is absolved of the allegations, the whole tribe can be hanged on Islamabad's D-Chowk.
