Father Of Missing Sindhi Activist Declines President’s Pride Of Performance Award

Father of missing Sindhi teacher and activist Saeen Taj Joyo has declined the President's Pride of Performance Award on account of the enforced disappearance of his son Sarang Joyo last week.

Sarang Joyo, a writer, political activist and Research Associate at Sindh Abhyas Academy, had been whisked away from his house in Karachi reportedly by the law enforcement agencies. The family had said that law enforcers broke into their house, held the entire household hostage, and took Sarang with them. They questioned whether this was the state of Madina that the prime minister had promised.

Voice For Missing Persons Sindh had said that organisation would launch a province-wide movement for the release of Joyo and other Sindhi missing persons. It had also called upon international rights bodies for intervention so that this heinous practice mostly employed by the state could come to an end.
