Prime Minister Imran Khan has been appreciated by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday for building a national consensus on countrywide lockdown polices to prevent the spread of the fatal virus.

The CM Sindh during his press conference in Karachi said the decisions that National Coordination Committee (NCC) took in their meeting on Tuesday should be extended. "I am happy that the rest of the provinces decided to implement this,” he added.

A day before Murad Ali Shah’s remarks about the premier, PM Imran had announced that the restrictions imposed by the government on public gatherings, assemblies and the opening of educational institutions would remain in place for another two weeks.

"At first we did not understand why the construction industry needed to be opened, but then the prime minister explained that it is the second largest sector in Pakistan, and is crucial to the economy of the country,” Murad Ali Shah said, adding that eventually all provinces agreed on ‘easing’ some curbs of coronavirus lockdown.

The provincial chief executive further said that some provinces and the federal government wanted to reopen certain businesses. “We opposed the idea for allowing tailors, electricians and plumbers to reopen their businesses. However, we agreed on allowing the plumbers and electricians to visit homes to provide services, after proper implementation of SOPs issued by the government.”
