All the major and minor markets across Pakistan were opened on Monday after the federal government’s decision to lift the lockdown imposed to counter the spread of deadly coronavirus. The prime minister announced the decision in spite of knowing the fact that virus cases were increasing across the country rapidly.
Since Monday, the shopkeepers and the general public – who come to markets in large numbers – have been flouting the government issued SOPs across Pakistan.
The deadly coronavirus has claimed 761 lives in Pakistan, while 9,695 patients have recovered successfully and have been discharged from the hospitals.
The national tally of coronavirus confirmed cases has risen to 35,457, with the provincial governments of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan confirming 13,230, 13,341, 5,252, 2,239 cases respectively. Meanwhile, 482 cases in Gilgit-Baltistan, 822 in Islamabad, and 91 in Kashmir have been reported to date.
