Rejecting some reports appearing in media, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Tuesday said the United States had not imposed any visa restrictions against Pakistan, reported Radio Pakistan.

Briefing the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, the foreign minister said the United States was going to deport over 70 Pakistanis who were illegal immigrants. He added that Pakistan had asked the United States to fulfill legal requirements about the Pakistanis being deported.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Today quoted Qureshi as saying, “The US has banned visit visa for three officials due to some reasons. These include joint secretary [interior], additional secretary interior and DG passport. This restriction is not on Pakistan and the clarification for this has been given by both the sides.”

Later, he, talking to media persons, expressed concerns over the rising tension between Iran and the United States, saying it was impacting the region.

He said Pakistan was closely observing the situation and would formulate a strategy keeping in view the national interest.

He said Pakistan wanted to make progress on multi-billion dollar Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline project but there was the third party hurdle in the form of sanctions against Iran.
