Saudi Arabia authorities have banned taking selfies, photos, and making videos in the two holy places, Masjid-al-Haram in Makkah and Masjid-an-Nabawi in the city of Medina.

According to a news report published in Jakarta Post, the ban has been imposed to prevent people from taking pictures and making videos at the two holiest sites for Muslims all over the world.

The Kingdom, while talking about the ban, had said that “the measure was imposed to preserve two of Islam’s holiest sites, and to prevent the disturbance of worshipers and ensure tranquility while performing acts of worship.”

The authorities have further directed the security to ‘confiscate the photos and the camera if needed’.
