The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested a citizen in Gujranwala on the charges of posting objectionable material against the prime minister, the army chief and the judges of higher judiciary on Twitter.

The FIR says action was taken on an application filed by another citizen – Usman Abid, a resident of Satellite Town – who said that the accused, Khalid Yousaf, had used insulting language about Prime Minister Imran Khan, Chief of Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa, former chief justice Saqib Nisar and other judges.

The applicant demanded strict punishment for the accused as he had hurt the feelings of others by making an attempt to defame the state institutions.

The FIR says a team raided the residence of the accused after obtaining warrants and also confiscated his cellular phone.
