Quoting from a research article that concluded that a third of Indian households will be unable to survive without any external assistance beyond a week, PM Khan had offered the Indian government the system through which he claims that he was able to provide for the marginalised families of Pakistan, Ehsaas program. The PM said that he would be willing to share the plan that made Ehsaas program successful.
However, the Indian MEA was quite unfriendly in its response to Imran. The issued statement said, “Pakistan would do well to recall that they have a debt problem which covers 90% of their GDP. As far as India goes, our stimulus package is as large as the GDP of Pakistan.”
The Foreign Office (FO) in Islamabad was surprised and said in a response statement on Friday: “negative remarks by the MEA spokesperson regarding a goodwill suggestion by the prime minister to share Pakistan’s successful experience in ameliorating the impact of Covid-19 on the poorest sections of the society.”
He also said that the response that was given by the MEA spokesperson, Anurag Srivastava, was an 'unprofessional attempt at point-scoring' in times of crisis that both the nations are facing along with the world.
