Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has alleged that due to the non-cooperative behavior of ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the provincial government has been facing a lot of challenges in importing the medical equipments to counter the deadly coronavirus outbreak.

Journalist Benazir Shah on Twitter quoted the CM Sindh as saying, “The countries we [Sindh government] reach out to tell us to ask our federal government to talk to their government." Murad Shah said that almost 90% of the total coronavirus tests in the province were conducted on the expense of Sindh government. “I been advised to extend the lockdown by another two weeks,” he added.

The CM Sindh on Monday, while speaking to a press conference, said that the reason behind the ineffectiveness of the countrywide coronavirus lockdown was the ‘mixed signals’ from the federal government. “The Covid-19 pandemic is not a provincial or a personal matter — I want to say this very clearly. We cannot make decisions in isolation because their consequences affect everybody,” he added.

The chief minister said that he was thankful to the rest of the provinces that followed Sindh government’s footsteps and enforced a lockdown. “I am tired of repeating this. The pandemic has affected economies around the world, but nothing is more important than people's lives. You can revive a lifeless economy but you cannot bring back the dead," he added.
