Justice Qazi Faez Isa remarked that the PM is the premier of the whole country, not of a particular group, adding that his act of attending the ceremony was tantamount to misusing the state's resources. The judge made these observations while hearing a case against the government of Punjab. "This is a matter of constitution and fundamental rights," Justice Isa said.
The Supreme Court has also served notices on the attorney general of Pakistan, Punjab's advocate general and the in-charge of Islamabad's Convention Centre, where the said ceremony took place. Justice Isa also sought response from the convention centre's in-charge about whether or not the expenses for the event were paid for.
JusĀtice Isa has forwarded the matter to Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed, seeking the constitution of a bench to hear the case.
In his speech at the Insaf Lawyers Forum even last week, PM Khan had said that the opposition parties were unable to 'control' the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) after the agency because it knows everything about their alleged corruption.
