A National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference will be filed against Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, and he will be sentenced as well.

While speaking at a program on Naya Daur TV, senior analyst Muzamal Suharwardy said that Justice Naqvi will be the first judge in the history of the country against whom a NAB reference will be filed.

The analyst said that Justice Naqvi was not submitting an answer to the accusation leveled against him, and he was trying to delay proceeding, but when he failed to get a stay from the Supreme Court, he decided to submit his resignation to save his skin.

Suharwardy said that Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa will not let Justice Naqvi escape accountability, adding that the judge will soon be in Adiala Jail.

The analyst said that the senior judge of the apex court, Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan, has also resigned because there were reports that a reference was about to be filed against him in the One Constitution Avenue case. He mentioned that Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan was a lawyer in the case, and when he became a judge, he heard the same case, which is professional misconduct.

Suharwardy said that these judges were providing facilitation to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his party. The state and army are in extreme anger over the role of a fragment of the judiciary in facilitating the May 9 accused, he added.

He said that all junior judges who were elevated to the Supreme Court during the tenure of former chief justice Umar Ata Bandial will also be sent home.

The analyst said that now two senior judges, who will be on merit, will assume charge as the Supreme Court judges in place of Justice Naqvi and Justice Ijaz.
