Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser is pursuing politics of reconciliation in a bid to lead the party if former prime minister Imran Khan is sentenced to imprisonment in the Cypher case and the May 9 cases.

While speaking at a program on Naya Daur TV, senior analyst Muzamal Suharwardy said that Asad Qaiser is making efforts to normalize ties between the army and the PTI. He wants reconciliation without demanding any relief for Imran Khan and those involved in the May 9 riots, he added.

The analyst said that Asad Qaiser is trying to become ‘Shehbaz Sharif’ of the PTI. Suharwardy said that it is expected that the establishment will acknowledge the effort of reconciliation extended by Asad, as there is no such condition of relief for Imran Khan.

Suharwardy further said that Imran Khan will not accept being imprisoned in the Cypher case and the May 9 cases, whereas Asad Qaiser is leading the party in his absence.

“Soon Imran Khan will disown Asad Qaiser and declare him a ‘traitor,’ he added.

While responding to a question regarding the exchange of heated arguments between Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Muneeb Akhtar during the full court hearing of the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Act, the analyst said that Justice Muneeb tried to pressure the lawyer, adding that few judges are losing their temper as there is no space for like-minded benches in the apex court after the appointment of Isa as the chief justice of Pakistan.

To another question regarding the PTI seeking permission to hold a rally at Lahore Liberty Chowk, Suharwardy said that permission should not be granted to any political party to hold a rally at The Mall or Liberty Chowk as it disrupts the flow of traffic in the city. However, PTI should be granted approval to hold a rally at Mianar-e-Pakistan as it is a designated place for rallies, he added.
