The worship place was closed due to the countrywide lockdown imposed to counter the spread of fatal coronavirus, but the assailants broke into the church and vandalised its interior and the holy symbols placed inside.
A social media user shared the video of the unfortunate incident on Twitter, saying: “20 years old Church has been attacked by a mob in Ferozwala Punjab, the church was closed due to coronavirus lockdown but the angry mob broke the walls of the church entered inside and broke down the Holy sign of Christian community.”

It can be seen in the video that the church was attacked as its boundary walls and interior were destroyed. The person who was recording the video, requested the Punjab government and CM Usman Buzdar to take strict action against the perpetrators and serve justice to the Christian community of Pakistan.
This is not the first time that a church has been attacked in Pakistan. One of the most deadliest attacks was carried out by Tekreek-e-Taliban (TTP) in 2015, when at least 15 Christians were killed and more than 70 were injured in a result of two suicide attacks in Lahore’s Youhanabad – a neighbourhood that is home to more than 100,000 Christians. The bombings occurred during prayers at two churches located around half a kilometre apart.
