Pakistan has yet to grant access of its airspace to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his route to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.

Earlier, New Delhi made a request to let Modi’s aircraft fly over its airspace to Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan, where the summit is being held from June 13-14.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Mohammad Faisal told The Express Tribune that Pakistan has not yet granted permission to let Modi’s aircraft fly over its airspace.

This statement is contrary to reports of Indian media that the Pakistan Government in principle had given permission for Modi’s aircraft to fly over its airspace.
