The hosts of the European Championships in 2028 and 2032 will be announced at a future meeting of UEFA's executive committee.
Turkey canceled its bid to host the event in 2028 in order to focus all of its efforts on a combined proposal with Italy to host the tournament four years later.

The end of 2002 saw Erdogan's appointment as prime minister; the same year, Turkey and Greece's joint bid to host the 2008 World Cup was turned down. Relations between the two nations were strengthening at the time.

Later, Turkey competed to host Euro 2012 alone but was defeated by a joint Ukraine-Poland bid. It was beaten by France in 2016.
They ultimately lost the bid for Euro 2024 to Germany after UEFA expressed concerns about the nation's "lack of an action plan in the area of human rights" during the evaluation of the bid.
Turkey is now certain to have its shot after four failed tries and having allied with Italy. There are no other competitors.
