I was a bit skeptical when I decided to watch the movie “Godzilla: King of Monsters” at the cinema. Skeptical mainly because the previously released Godzilla movies like Godzilla (1998) and Godzilla (2014) were not that much compelling to watch. However, the first twenty minutes of Godzilla: King of Monsters do capture your attention and make you wonder what more is there to the story.

This movie is everything that a Godzilla fan would want to see. A number of gigantic creatures are part of the movie. Don’t worry. No spoilers here! However, there is one mammoth monster who is not part of the biological chain and is sort of a false king.

While Godzilla itself is a threat to life and property, the humans work with Godzilla to fight against this false king. Godzilla’s appearance – its face, body and its stance – is way better than it was in the previous movies. Its face, especially eyes, nostrils and the mouth accentuate the monster’s anger and rage it is famous for. The special effects are too good.

Since Godzilla: King of Monsters is not an original story, you will expect much action and many facts about Godzilla and other creatures in the dialogues. The story revolves around Paleobiologist Emma Russell (Vera Farmiga) who works for Monarch, crypto-zoological organization. She is responsible for studying these gigantic creatures or Titans, as they call them.

Emma uses a device called ORCA that can influence the frequencies of the Titans to calm them down or enrage them within seconds. During an experience, Alan Jonah (Charles Dance), an eco-terrorist, along with his men, invades the facility and kidnaps Emma and her daughter Madison Russell (Millie Bobby Brown).

Dr Mark Russell (Kyle Chandler), Emma’s ex-husband and co-inventor of the ORCA, joins hands with the Monarch rescue team trying to trace Godzilla and all other Titans to put an end to the destruction caused by them.

Directed by Michael Dougherty, the movie is an action-packed adventure that reveals the identity of Godzilla, its history on Earth and the history of all other Titans. Moreover, the movie’s end credits direct to the sequel, Godzilla vs. Kong, set for release in 2020. If you want an adventure movie with action, destruction, suspense and man’s ability to control Godzilla, then you must watch this movie.
