There are a number of factors why Polio still continues to exist in Pakistan. For example, killing of polio workers in fields and refusal by people in many parts of the country to vaccinate their children. The numbers are on the high side in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

And this means Pakistan still remains Polio affected, along with Afghanistan and Nigeria.

Since the introduction of the Polio Eradication Programme in 1994, the number of cases have greatly diminished but the disease has not been eradicated.
The previous Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government introduced anti-Polio policies and now the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has followed into the footsteps and seem committed to end Polio once and for all.
