Pakistani cricket legend Wasim Akram has criticized the diet of Pakistan's national cricket team saying that they eat too much Biryani instead of going for a healthier diet.

“Our players are still being served Biryani, you cannot compete against champions by feeding them biryani,” Wasim said, adding that the players were eating too much junk food before the Cricket World Cup 2019.

Pakistan cricket team has struggled with fitness issues over the past many years.

In 2016, more than half of the 31 players who are part of the boot camp in preparation for the England tour have fitness tests. The situation has not improved substantially.

Back in 2016, Shahid Afridi was declared the most unfit player in the team, while Misbah-ul-Haq remained the fittest player in the squad. The reason for Misbah's fitness, even at 40+ is his strict diet and regular training. Misbah is team Say-No-To-Biryani, but others cannot seem to resist the temptation and that has got Wasim annoyed.

Wasim is not the only one worried about their fitness, the cricket team was criticized after they poorly fielded against Australia. Many analysts believe that half of the squad was not qualified to feature in the upcoming world cup.

Akram also opined that pacer Muhammad Amir has all the tools to lead Pakistan national team in the future.
