Supreme Court of Pakistan has granted bail to incarcerated editor-in-chief of Geo and Jang group Mir Shakilur Rehman. Rehman was in jail in a case pertaining to illegal allotment of land.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Musheer Alam heard the case. Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Qazi Ameen are other members of the bench.
In his arguments, Mir Shakilur Rehman’s counsel Amjad Parvez maintained that the National exchequer did not suffer any loss due to the land allotted to his client. He further said that the reference was filed against four people but only one of them (Mr Shakilur Rehman) was arrested.
