ISLAMABAD:

Following the remarks of Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry regarding the performance of Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), former JUI-F senator Hafiz Hamdullah teased Fawad Chaudhry by asking him to include controversial TikTok star Hareem Shah in CII.

On Wednesday, Chairman CII Dr Qibla Ayaz had said that sections 14-D, 15-A and 26-A of the National Accountability Bureau Ordinance were 'in violation of Islamic laws,’ in reaction to which Fawad Chaudhry criticised the CII's declaration and questioned why the government was spending a huge sum on an institution that never provided any guidance to religious affairs.

The ex-senator Hafiz Hamdullah said it was unfortunate that a federal minister was disrespecting a national institution such as the CII. Hamdullah wondered if it was a feature of the 'State of Medinah' that a federal minister is questioning the religious body's performance. He said religious scholars and legal experts were members of the body. He sarcastically commented that the only thing that the council lacked was TikTok star Hareem Shah.
