Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and several other party leaders has been booked in a new case related to the death of an Islamabad policeman during a recent protest. The PTI leaders face charges of attempted murder, arson, assault on state officials, and violence against police personnel.

The case, registered at Noon Police Station in Islamabad, follows the death of Constable Abdul Hameed, who allegedly sustained injuries during the PTI's protest at D Chowk on October 4. Reports indicate that the policeman was attacked after being "kidnapped" by protestors and later died from his injuries. The FIR claims that PTI leaders incited the violence, leading to the assault of police officers with sticks, stones, and iron rods. Protesters reportedly tore police uniforms, fired at law enforcement, and set government and public property ablaze while chanting anti-government slogans.

Khan and Gandapur, along with other PTI figures including Azam Swati and Omar Ayub, are also implicated in multiple cases linked to the protest.

Following the violent clashes, the law enforcement situation in Islamabad remains tense, particularly as PTI attempts to organize protests despite a Section 144 order prohibiting political gatherings in the city.

The PTI has been staging protests advocating for judicial independence and the release of Imran Khan, who has been detained at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi for over a year. During the October 4 protests, several PTI leaders, including Imran's sisters Aleema and Uzma Khan, were taken into custody on serious charges related to terrorism, and they remain under police custody.
