NA Speaker Issues Production Orders For Zardari, Saad Rafique, Khursheed Shah

The National Assembly Speaker Qasim Suri issued the production orders for former president Asif Ali Zardari, Pakistan People’s Party leader Khursheed Shah and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Khawaja Saad Rafique on Thursday, all of whom are currently in prison.

The lower house of the parliament also witnessed a ruckus during Thursday’s session, as the opposition protested the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government’s legislation thorough ordinances.

The government tabled a total of 15 bills today, out of which 13 were presidential ordinances. Eleven bills, 9 of them presidential ordinances, were passed by the National Assembly.

During the opposition’s protest against ordinances, lawmakers tore up copies of the bills in front of the dice. Moreover, slogans against the government were chanted.

Three presidential ordinances were also given a 3-month extension by the lower house of the parliament.

According to a report in Dawn, the bills passed today included the Legal Aid and Justice Authority Ordinance 2019, the Superior Courts (Court Dress and Mode of Address) Order (Repeal) Ordinance 2019, the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) (Amendment) Ordinance 2019, the National Accountability (Amendment) Ordinance 2019, Medical Tribunal Bill 2019 and Pakistan Medical Commission Ordinance 2019.
