According to a statement by the ISPR (Inter-Services Public Relations), three Army officers and one soldier of the Pakistan Army were martyred in an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) explosion in Kharqamar Area of North Waziristan.

The incident took place in Kharqamar area of North Waziristan Tribal District on Friday. The martyred soldiers include Major Moeez Maqsood Baig, Lt Col Raashid Karim Baig, Capt Arif Ullah, and Lance Havaldar Zaheer.

Apart from these officers and soldiers, four others suffered injuries when terrorists targeted a military vehicle through an IED plated on the roadside, added the ISPR.

The martyred personnel hail from different areas of the country where Lt Col Baig belongs to Karimabad, Hunza, and Major Maqsood Baig is from Karachi, Captain Arif Ullah from Laki Marwat and Lance Havaldar Zaheer from Chakwal.

ISPR statement added that "This is the same area where forces had conducted search operations and arrested [a] few facilitators. It is important to note that that ten security personnel have been martyred and thirty-five of them have been injured in the last one month or so in the said area.

These are not the only incidents, which took place around Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, as reported earlier by Dawn; two Frontier Corps (FC) soldiers were martyred in Balochistan Harnai District during Eid Patrol Duty.

Since terrorist activities have increased in the tribal district particularly North Waziristan, various people have taken to twitter expressing their sympathy and support for the Armed Forces.
