The PCB members announced this decision during a press conference held outside the SC building on Saturday in Islamabad. The legal fraternity also demanded that the law minister and the attorney general resign over the issue as the reference filed against Justice Isa was based on ‘mala fide’ intent.
PBC vice chairman Amjad Shah said the protest will be a peaceful one adding that its purpose is to “guard the essence of the Constitution and preserve the supremacy of law”. He demanded the government to withdraw the controversial reference saying that it was based on weak legal footing.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), being the first authority to investigate the matter, did not serve a show cause notice to the judges, thereby committing a violation, said Shah. “The reference has no merit and is based on ill-intention,” he added.
