Pakistan’s series-costing defeat at the hands of New Zealand in the third-and-final Test match in UAE has come as a total shock (or maybe not).

At one moment, it seemed as if the green team would choke the Kiwis when they had them by the neck, but the Pakistani team did the most Pakistani team thing ever and lost the plot completely.

The team could not even survive 2 sessions and took too much time to decide whether to go for the win or draw that they ended up losing and the man who is in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons is captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.

Pakistanis are not happy with Sarfaraz and they want him to step down as Test captain, with some wanting a total boycott of the Karachi-based cricketer.

But people do have reasons to be annoyed. Sarfaraz has not been able to perform individually. In others words, lead from the front and that is possibly his biggest problem.

Like in the third Test, Sarfaraz did get a couple of start in the two innings (25 and 28) but could not make it count.

Questions have also been raised over his aggressive captaincy, which many believe is sometimes blown out of proportion.

Here is what Twitter thinks of the skipper

Here is a reply to Sarfaraz’s comments that Pakistan’s biggest problem is inconsistency in performances

It is unfair to compare the two, don’t you think?

Some users have also been demanding resignations from Sarfaraz

All of these reactions have got us like

Pakistan’s Test cricket has not seen the same amount of success in Sarfaraz’s era as it saw in Misbah-ul-Haq’s leadership but to compare two different individuals with two different styles would be unwise.

Let’s hope Sarfaraz mends his ways and Test cricket in UAE turns Pakistan-dominant again.
