DAWN reported that its correspondent’s family told the newspaper that 15 men armed with axes, sticks and hammers barged into their house after breaking open locks. The assailants then subjected the family to torture and dragged them out to occupy the premises.
According to the newspaper, the journalist’s family informed the local police in time but Station House Officer (SHO) Khalil Kunbhar reached the spot two hours after the incident and instead of arresting the attackers, he forced the victims to ‘resolve’ the matter through jirga.
The family of DAWN’s correspondent further alleged that the police returned axes and hammers to the culprits and let them sneak away. “The attackers were disciples of a pir who want to occupy our house,” the family claimed.
