Prices of all essential items including meat, ghee, cooking oil, flour, onion, chicken, and fruits have soared significantly. Meat sellers have increased prices by Rs20-50 per kg — depending on the localities as retailers. The previous price of veil meat was Rs500, but now retailers are selling it at Rs520-550, Dawn reported.
Boneless meat is also being sold at a price Rs20-50 higher than the usual price. Moreover, mutton dealers have also increased prices to Rs1,000 from Rs950 per kg attributing the hike to rising wholesale prices.
The prices of chicken meat have also seen a sharp rise. Previously, the meat was being sold at Rs300-310 per kg, but now it is being sold at Rs380-390 in various parts of the city. Bread manufacturers have also increased the prices by 8 percent after a gap of almost 5 years.
The price of small bread has been increased to Rs50 and Rs51 against Rs45 and Rs46, respectively whereas the large plain bread is now available at Rs90 compared to Rs80.
Prices of vegetables such as onions, tomatoes, potatoes, and oil/ghee products have also increased.
