The world watched the siege in a state of shock. Many countries including Turkey and China called for the need to diffuse the situation, which was seen as ironic considering that the US usually tells other countries to handle their unrest.
Meanwhile, Pakistani Twitter had a humorous take on the entire situation. Soon after the news broke out, Trump and Capitol related hashtags started trending in Pakistan. However along with news outlets tweets, the hashtags are filled with memes comparing the situation to Pakistan. Many users were reminded of the protests by extremist group Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) that had brought Islamabad on a standstill on more than one occasion. Some Twitter users also thought that the situation in the US was similar to 2014 anti-government protests by PTI and PAT in which PTV building and the parliament were attacked by rioters.
Here are some of the hilarious responses to the siege of Capital Hill.
