The IAEA team, led by Nuclear Security head Raja Abdul Aziz Raja Adnan, has been in Pakistan since Tuesday. Adnan promised greater cooperation between Pakistan and the IAEA, something that benefits the country in its nuclear energy endeavors.
Pakistan has always been keen on implementing international standards when it comes to nuclear security. The country was working with the IAEA on the Nuclear Security and Cooperation Program since its start in 2005. This partnership was extended in 2011.
Adnan visited Karachi Nuclear Power Plant (KANUPP) where he met senior officials from the plant, Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) and the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA).
Pakistan has also devised it's own framework for nuclear security as well and has been signatory to relevant international treaties as well.
