The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast indicating further rainstorms across various regions of the country within the next 24 hours.
Areas expected to experience rain include upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), south Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit-Baltistan. Isolated locations in northeast Punjab, the Potohar region, upper KP, and AJK may see heavy rainfall.
Monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal continue to influence weather patterns, with a trough of westerly waves affecting northern parts of the country. Recent thunderstorms have impacted the upper KP, south Punjab, Sindh, central Balochistan, and AJK.
Rainfall Records:
KP: Cherat recorded the highest rainfall at 46 mm, followed by Kakul with 15 mm, and Kalam and Dir (lower) each with 1 mm.
Punjab: Rahim Yar Khan saw 18mm of rain, Chakwal and Joharabad 12mm each, Khanpur 11mm, Gujrat 8mm, and Khanpur 3mm. Jhang received 1 mm.
North Karachi reported 4mm of heavy rain, MOS reported 2mm, and Gulshan-e-Maymar reported 1mm. Hyderabad's Rohri received 2 mm.
Sindh: Sukkur recorded 1 mm of rainfall.
Balochistan: Jilwani received 5mm, and Kalat saw 4mm.
AJK: Kotli experienced 5mm of rain, Garhi Dupatta 4mm, and Muzaffarabad 1mm.
The highest temperatures reported were 44 °C in Chillas and 43 °C in Bunji. Residents in the affected regions are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
