Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has been summoned by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Aug 12 for allegedly issuing liquor licence to a Lahore hotel by abusing his powers as the chief executive of the province.

According to the Geo News, the Punjab CM was facing allegations of using influence to issue the liquor licence to a hotel even though the authority of the issuance of the licences lied with the Excise and Taxation Director General.

Two pleas had been filed in NAB last year, accusing the chief minister of granting the licence illegally. In the light of these plea, the accountability watchdog had launched an inquiry against the CM.

Moreover, the Punjab chief minister was also accused of getting a helicopter for his official use and got it insured for Rs70 million instead of Rs30 million, according to the report. It further claimed that Buzdar had directed the officials concerned to pay the insurance amount through a supplementary grant.
