Senior analyst Muzamal Suharwardy has questioned the silence of political parties over known businessman Zubair Motiwala’s claim that Army Chief General Asim Munir believes that no political party is sincere with the country.

During his program on Naya Daur TV, he said that inter-services public relations (ISPR) has also not issued a rebuttal over Motiwala’s claim, which is also a matter of concern.

How can the army chief give a certificate of sincerity to any political party? he questioned. "It is strange that all political parties, either pro or anti-establishment, preferred to remain silent over the Motiwala’s statement," he added.

Suharwardy questioned, "Were the generals sincere with the country who took over the reins of the country and ruled it? He said that questions would be raised about the sincerity of dictators as well.

He also questioned the sincerity of General (retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa and Lieutenant General (retired) Faiz Hameed, who were allegedly involved in political engineering.

He said that if the army chief has any evidence against any politician, corruption cases should be lodged against them, but giving such a statement in meetings is not a good approach.

The analyst said that ISI raises politicians in its nursery, adding that does that mean that the politicians raised in the nursery of ISI are not loyal to the country?

"Were the judges who gave the death sentence to former president Zulfikar Ali Bhutto sincere with the country?" he questioned.

Suharwardy said that the army chief's meeting with the businessmen has yielded a positive result, and the dollar rate has declined as he warned the traders to stop playing with the dollar.
