Pakistan is heading towards economic revival under the leadership of the incumbent government as a 50-member delegation from Saudi Arabia has reached Islamabad to attend a Pakistan-Saudi Arabia investment conference, said senior analyst Muzamal Suharwardy.
While speaking at a program on Naya Daur TV, the analyst said that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will also visit Pakistan in May to enhance bilateral trade ties between the two countries.
Suharwardy said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) now wants ministries because the economic policies of the government have started yielding positive results. Earlier, the PPP was of the view that the government would not sustain itself; that’s why their leadership was not interested in taking ministries, but now the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is not in a mood to give them any ministries, he added.
The analyst said that the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will be finalized in May, and discussion for CPEC phase 2 is underway.
He said that the PPP leadership is opposing the privatization of PIA because of their political stance. Bhutto nationalized institutions during his tenure, which resulted in the destruction of those institutions, he added.
While responding to a question, he said that it is logic-less that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has refused to block phone sims of non-filers, adding that the government should take a strict stance on it and block sims of non-filers.
While talking about the wheat import scandal, Suharwardy said that former caretaker prime minister Anwar-Ul-Haq Kakar and his cabinet are involved in the scandal, and they all have a shelter of establishment. They all believe that the establishment will save them from accountability, he added.
