Residents of Karachi’s Korangi Town associated with extremist group Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) claimed to have returned the ration bags they received from an NGO after falsely stating that the volunteers were Ahmadis and that donations from the community could not be accepted.

Journalist Naila Inayat shared a video on Twitter, wherein a person — who was recording the video — said that people ‘unknowingly’ received ration bags 'from Ahmadis' and now they were ‘voluntarily’ returning them.

“Although we are poor but it doesn’t mean that we will receive ration from the ‘enemies’ of Islam and Prophet PBUH. We are returning these donated ration bags as it is our religious responsibility,” the member of the TLP said.

The man recording the video even criticised the welfare organisation Jafaria Disaster Management Cell (JDC) on sectarian grounds. “People will also not receive ration bags from JDC as they are ‘enemies’ of Prophet PBUH’s companions,” he said. It is pertinent to mention that JDC has donated thousands of ration bags to the residents of Karachi indiscriminately since the imposition of lockdown due to the deadly coronavirus in the city.
