‘We Planned To Target Atif Khan, Shahram Turkai’: Terrorist Caught In Hayatabad Operation
A terrorist arrested during the Hayatabad operation has confessed that the group was involved in several terrorist activities in the past and was planning to target more people, including some PTI ministers in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

According to a press release issued by the KP Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), the arrested terrorist identified as Yasir revealed that the group had sent a suicide bomber to attack PTI ministers Atif Khan and Shahram Turkai, but he could not reach his target as he banged into another vehicle on the way.

Those whose car the bomber bashed into were three people who slapped him and asked compensation for the car.

He also revealed that the group attacked Justice Ayub Khan because he was a judge in Shakil Afridi’s case and had ‘let him fly to America’. Yasir also admitted to having links with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

A group of Afridi tribe elders from the Khyber district last month claimed that the killing of five men in Hayatabad operation was a ‘fake encounter’ and demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter, Dawn News reported.

The tribe members said that if their demands were not met, they would ‘announce an agitation plan against the killings’ and the rulers would be responsible for what happens afterward.

On April 28, security agencies and police dismissed the claims saying that ‘those casting doubts on our credibility have vested agendas’. They revealed that two security officers were martyred during the operation.

Speaking to Dawn, security officials said that if the terrorists were ‘civilians’, why did they not surrender when the announcements were made. They said it took 17 hours to successfully complete the operation and a police officer and a soldier were martyred.
