Chief Justice Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Athar Minallah has rejected the petition against Aurat Azadi March, saying that the organisers of the march have been demanding the implementation of the rights, that Islam has given to them but denied by the society.

Justice Athar Minallah while hearing the petition said the organisers only want the enforcement of the rights, Islam has guaranteed them. “How can someone find anything wrong with that? The tribal mindset had taken over society and that was a huge problem,” the judge said.

CJ IHC commented on the controversial slogan ‘mera jism, meri marzi (my body, my choice), questioning that how come someone interpret the slogan differently while saying that ‘you’re wrong’ if the organisers have been continuously interpreting the slogan and saying that its meaning is different.

The chief justice further said “its time for introspection for our society to see whether we are enforcing the rights that Allah has commanded us.” He further said that the people should be looking at revolutionising the society, not pulling it backwards.
