Justice Athar Minallah’s dissenting note regarding live-streaming the proceedings of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) law amendments case has reflected his bias and revealed that he is a ‘cult follower’ of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, said senior analyst Muzamal Suharwardy.
The apex court judge, in his 13-page dissenting note, stated that the approach of the Court should be "in favor of the millions of followers and their representatives."
While speaking at a program on Naya Daur TV, Suharwardy said that, as a senior judge, Justice Minallah should have the idea that popular and unpopular are both equal before the law. His dissenting note is a big question mark on the system of justice in the country, he added.
“Will courts give justice on the basis of the popularity of the accused?” he questioned.
While responding to a question, the analyst said that Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Deputy Convener Mustafa Kamal requested the apex court accept his apology in a suo motu case pertaining to contempt of court, adding that his move was against the dignity of a political leader.
He said that Kamal has disappointed people by seeking an unconditional apology in contempt of court.
While talking about PTI’s controversial X post probe, Suharwardy said that Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Raoof Hasan, and Umar Ayub have recorded their statements before the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), adding that the state will not forgive this act of the PTI leadership.
