Last week, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi confirmed positive for the virus. Several other political leaders have also been infected from the disease. More recently, Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed gained recovery after remaining isolated for about two weeks. Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif is currently quarantined following the infection.
On the other hand, the overall cases in the country have been on the decline, with decreasing deaths due to the infections. According to World Health Organisation (WHO) chief, Pakistan has registered a decline in the cases. It had previously pointed out that the cases were on the rise.
According to statistics, the current confirmed cases stand at 233,526, with a total of 4,808 deaths. Sindh is reported to be the worst hit with a total of 96,236 cases. The number of total recoveries in the country currently stands at 131,649.
