Messaging application WhatsApp is deactivating the accounts of Indian Occupied Kashmiris that have been inactive since August due to the communication blockage enforced by the Indian government after the revocation of Article 370 in the occupied valley.

According to WhatsApp policy, accounts of users that have been inactive for over 120 days get deactivated. The communications blackout in Indian Occupied Kashmir has taken away the people’s access to internet, explaining why the accounts were inactive.

People took to Twitter to express their sorrow over not being able to talk to their loved ones in the valley and how they received notifications of them 'leaving' groups on WhatsApp.

With revocation of article 370, major political leaders in Kashmir, like Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah, were kept under house arrest and foreigners were being evacuated from the valley.

It has been 4 months since the communication blackout started.
