Firmly throwing his weight behind Aurat March, PPP's Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has stated that the event will proceed on the 8th of March and that nobody could stop it from happening.
Highlighting the progress made by women in Pakistan and the many professional fields that they have taken up, the PPP leader opined that opponents of Aurat March have a “medieval mindset”.
Drawing upon the example of his own mother, the late Benazir Bhutto, the PPP leader pointed out that she had been elected Prime Minister of Pakistan twice despite fatwas (religious clerical opinions) against it. Benazir Bhutto became the first female Prime Minister in a Muslim-majority country.
