The Supreme Court has suspended the Lahore High Court’s (LHC) verdict as well as the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) notification for the establishment of eight tribunals in Punjab, but the apex court has shown too much leniency for LHC judges who announced that verdict by violating the constitution, said senior analyst Muzamal Suharwardy.

While speaking at a program on Naya Daur TV, the analyst said that the LHC announced that judgment by using authority that is not given in the constitution, adding that it was equivalent to rewriting the constitution.

Suharwardy said that the Suprem Court should have snubbed the LHC judges, but the apex court just suspended the verdict. He said that it is not a good practice as it will encourage judges to announce verdicts by violating the constitution.

The analyst said that the concept of ‘brother judges’ is ruining the country and collapsing the judiciary system. He added that strict action must be taken against the judges who were found involved in rewriting the constitution.

While responding to a question, Suharwardy said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting, where he raised the issue of Israel’s brutality in Palestine and talked about genocide in Gaza.

He said that PM Shehbaz is highlighting Isarel’s brutality at the international level, but on the other hand, Israel is submitting a resolution to the UN Working Group in favor of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He added that it clearly indicates who is against Israel and who is with Israel. He further said that it has been confirmed that the Jewish lobby is with PTI and his founder, Imran Khan.

While talking about the protest held in Islamabad by family and relatives of a 2022 car accident in which two people were killed by the vehicle allegedly driven by Supreme Court judge Justice Malik Shehzad Ahmed Khan’s daughter.

He said that a letter was circulating on social media stating that Justice Shehzad has decided not to perform his duties as a judge until the case of his daughter is solved. Suharwardy said that when he checked, he learned that the letter was fake.

He said that it is unfortunate that the entire judiciary is silent over the incident in which two people were killed after being hit by a vehicle allegedly driven by the judge’s daughter.
