A three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed has asked Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government to rebuild the Hindu temple that was recently demolished in Karak. The CJ has ordered the authorities to recover the amount from Maulvi Sharif who allegedly instigated the mob that vandalised the place of worship.

During the hearing, the bench questioned how the incident could occur with the police picket being so close by.

92 police officials have been suspended, the court was told, to which the top judge remarked that suspending the officials is not enough.

KP Chief Secretary Dr Kazim Niaz informed the judges that the provincial government of KP will bear the cost of the rebuilding the temple. To this the top judge responded that the amount should be recovered from those who demolished the Temple. "Unless they have to personally bear the cost of the rebuilding, they would continue carrying out such acts."
