Journalist Syed Muzammil revealed in a tweet on Wednesday evening that two armed men, who live in his neighborhood, entered his home in his absence and fired shots in the air, attempting to break down his doors. The attack was reportedly a response to his recent political views shared in his vlogs.
Muzammil stated that the incident occurred around 5:30 PM the previous evening. He explained that the attackers were armed with automatic weapons and fired shots inside his home.
"When my family called the police to report the incident, the attackers fired shots in front of them, and one of them managed to flee the scene," Muzammil wrote.
Muzammil added that two separate FIRs (First Information Reports) had been filed against the attackers, but the main suspect, Naveed, who had previously threatened to shoot him, remains at large.
"This is the price of journalism in this country. I'm tweeting about this 24 hours later because I didn't want to bring public attention to an incident that caused severe mental distress to my family. However, since the main perpetrator is still on the run, I want to make it clear that if anything happens to me or my family, government officials will be held responsible," Muzammil stated.
In his tweet, Mazmal tagged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
It is worth noting that Muzammil has recently posted two vlogs, one of which discussed the influence of "family vloggers" on children's mindset. In his most recent vlog, published seven days ago, he criticized the politics of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) under the topic, "Imran Khan's Failed Call, Fake Revolution, and the State's Response." Both vlogs contained criticism of PTI's politics.
