Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and his party senior leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi will be sentenced to up to 14 years of imprisonment in the Cipher case till the end of October or in the first week of November.

While speaking at a program on Naya Daur TV, senior analyst Muzamal Suharwardy said that the challan in the Cipher case has been submitted and Khan will soon be sentenced to 14 years.

He said that Khan will be sentenced in multiple cases, including the May 9 riots and others.

Suharwardy said that the establishment will not finalize any deal with Khan, and the PTI chairman will surrender.

While talking about the appointment of Lt Gen Munir Afsar as National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Chairman, the analyst said that former NADRA chairman Tariq Malik was forced to resign from his post and was also barred from traveling abroad as he was involved in providing data of Pakistani citizens to PTI social media cells operating from the United States.

While responding to a question regarding the statement of caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti on smuggling through borders under the supervision of officials of security agencies, Suharwardy lauded the remarks of the minister and termed them a good omen.

He said that the army should also initiate accountability for former military officers who were allegedly involved in smuggling and made huge assets from the income derived from it.
