The members of the JI engaged in an altercation with the people who organised the event and also tortured the general secretary of the Bajaur bar. As MNA Dawar approached the stage to address the participants, the members of the JI allegedly tried to attack the lawmaker to prevent him from speaking.
Consequently, the oath-taking ceremony was postponed.
Member of National Assembly (MNA) and leader of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) Mohsin Dawar has received a life-threatening letter from a North-Waziristan based extremist outfit Al-Furqan.
The PTM leader shared the photo of the letter on Twitter, saying: “Received this threat which is also being widely distributed. We’ve repeatedly warned the government about terrorists regrouping, but no response. Meanwhile, terror has returned to Pashtun soil likely with [the] state support.”
The MNA elected from North Waziristan added that his struggle against terrorism and for Pashtun rights will continue, even “at the cost of his life”.
In its letter, the extremist organisation warned Mohsin Dawar to refrain from certain activities, including building a church for the local Christians.
They further asked the MNA to be ‘careful’ while giving statements and not disagree with the members of Al-Furqan in ‘jirgas’ (local courts in Pashtun areas).
